This weekend we did not stop hearing about it but …it deserves no less! Yesterday, March 8 was the International Women’s Day . “International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.” So we clarified the International Labour Organization (ILO) telling us what to do this day : analyzing the route and continuing effort in this race.
Each day equality is more present in our society, but we still have a long way to go . We still see data that frighten us. According to a report by the ILO the Spanish women earn 15% less than men for doing the same job, and if you have children this reduction we add another 5% less.
In the field of advertising and marketing we also have a long journey. Several studies in the United States, Britain and Spain show that the female presence in the creative departments of advertising agencies does not exceed 30 %.
In addition, the woman is very recurrent in advertising, as we all know. We have the example of the many campaigns where women as objects are the protagonist as the controversial spot of the latest Super Bowl by Carl’s Jr.

or the mythical ads from brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Axe , One Million by Paco Rabbane and many other examples that we see every day on the Internet and on our televisions .
Some brands take advantage of this factor to get their names on everyone’s lips and feminist organizations are constantly fighting against this type of advertising and manage to create a media controversy.
In Símbolo we are already signed up for this race for equality, want to join us?
