The philosophy of Marketing 3.0. The intention to reach the hearts.
The business world is changing rapidly and now companies are more focused on customers as PERSONALITIES, and aiming to reach the heart, offering value-based services. The strategies “just to sell” do not work now, companies and brands try to listen to their customers and engage them in the creative process. Consumers become lovers or fans of brands and experts discuss a new phenomenon of Marketing 3.0.
But what is Marketing 3.0? According to Philip Kotler, known as the father of Marketing, people feel, think, laugh, get excited and share all those experiences on social networks. Moreover, now consumers are looking for something more – they want not only to satisfy their needs with a product or service, but also require something based on values, social and environmental consciousness, seeking brands with their own IDENTITY.
Today companies spend a lot of time to define exactly their mission, vision and values. They think about responsible consumption, strive for creation love between brands and people and emphasize on building communities, trying to hear the opinion of their customers concerning the creation and developing of new products or services. We have exciting examples of Apple, Starbucks, Coca Cola, Adidas, Lexus, which send very strong messages like Think Different, Everything matters, Open Happiness, Just do it, The relentless pursuit of perfection – they are not just products now, they are philosophies.
Have you ever thought about the keys of success of Starbucks? Why people are willing to overpay for a cup of coffee, especially in Spain, where the culture of coffee consumption is well developed? Or why Apple fans can stand in a 10-hour queue for a new release? Only looking for coffee or mobile phone? If it’s so, they can buy any substitute product. The things they are looking for are unique experiences and sensations, which are more than coffee. Something which you can not see, you can only feel. They are proud to be associated with the brand, to belong to the group of their fans, to have the best and to be the best.
Well, what are the main keys of Marketing 3.0?
Collaborate with your customers as Caffee Caribou does, with its idea to seek help from it followers on Pinterest, developing the new mix for the launch of its newest coffee idea. The process of consumer co-creation will help to find new creative ideas and enhance loyalty between the brand and its consumers.
Support your community as Unilever does with its programs of social sustainability and responsibility.
Send a strong message with the intension of reaching the hearts of PERSONALITIES, as AXE does for Peace One Day, in one of its last spot Make Love Not War.
Be sensitive, anticipate trends change as Apple does, for creation of long- term consumers. And, of course, know and respect your competitors to find your own place in this world.
And remember, there is no need to be giant of the market in order to get to the heart of your consumer, like those brands. All you need is to love what you do, ask and listen to your customers, and create your own philosophy, a strong link between your company and PERSONALITY.
