Today billboards have become very ordinary part of any urban landscape. In sport centers, public roads or transport infrastructure, billboards always sand advertising messages. But the first billboards were not as striking as modern ones, and had simple images and messages.
But now the companies strive not to use this «simplicity». They try to express all their creativity through the billboards. Now the idea is not only to inform and persuade, but to create some unique experiences. But how is it possible to achieve this goal with billboards? A little bit of creativity and nothing is impossible.
Ikea, a Swedish brand of furniture and decor is a brilliant example. Due to the celebration of the opening of a new store in Clermont-Ferrand, Company established an interactive installation with some furniture of Ikea. The wall of scale throws down a little challenge and invites to experience new feelings and sensations.
But some are even more creative. A supermarket in Mooresville North Carolina, installed a giant billboard aiming to increase sales between 7 am – 10 am and 4 pm – 7 pm and promote the new brand of meat. At that time, special system installed into the billboard sprinkled the fragrance that had a smell of grilled meat.
And one more example. The Economist, for example, to promote the idea of saving energy, created a billboard with the light bulb that lights up when you pass underneath.
So Brand competition forces the companies to think in extraordinary and creative way to get our attention and attract new consumers.
