The so-called “textronics” (mixture of the words textile and electronics) and new technologies are allowing our clothing to be more intelligent and besides that more functional and playful. The inclusion of electronic “gadgets” in clothes and accessories has become a reality that is available to those who want to be trendy. Jackets, handbags, sneakers, jeans, watches, etc…
The collaboration between product designers, engineers, textile manufacturers and technology make this possible.
Who would have imagined that from the first nomad shoes, bags or jackets, where ingenuity and creativity were used for sheer necessity or primitive functionality, one day a GPS-system which has been built into a shoe would guide us through the world by using vibrations, or a bag that uses solar panels in order to give off light at night or to help to find an object inside, or possibly a jacket with a heating circuit powered by a lithium battery, and many more.
Whether it is to not get lost on a Saturday night, to help you find your keys in the chaos that your purse is in, or to be cozy on a cold night in January. These clothes and accessories make it easier for us thanks to the technology and innovation.
At CES (consumer electronics show) held in Las Vegas in January 2014, more than six companies showed their merger proposals of technology, clothes and accessories.
